South Frontenac Recreation Committee

The Township of South Frontenac is evolving it's Recreation Committee Structure to focus on key functions that require greater engagement with the local and broader community. Two new Committees, made up of Community Volunteers and Township Councilors, will be formed to support the recreation and leisure needs of residents.

Volunteering on a committee is a great way to meet new people and share your ideas and talents, while supporting local government in adequately addressing issues.

The new Recreation Committees structure will be reviewed September 30, 2020. 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for Community members who are passionate about South Frontenac and have a keen interest in engaging with the District and broader South Frontenac community to improve recreation and leisure services.

Eligibility

Committee Volunteers must be:

  • at least 18 years or older
  • a resident/business owner in the Township of South Frontenac
  • must maintain residency in the Township of South Frontenac for term of their appointment 

Current Vacancies

Recreation and Leisure Facilities Committee

Purpose: This committee will be focused on indoor/outdoor facility/amenity maintenance needs and capital projects. It will also provide support for community programs and events.

This committee will:

  • Act as a conduit for community, sporting groups clubs and organizations
  • Support facility usage/bookings
  • Provide input into annual facility operating and capital budgets from an asset management perspective, prioritizing recreation based on needs and usage
  • Meet to review and support capital projects
  • Provide residents support and guidance through the process required to successfully present ideas and needs to the township and Council.
  • Provide recommendations to Council

Meetings:

  • The committee will meet at least four(4) times per year or at the call of the Chair
  • Committee meetings will be held at different locations via rotating schedule throughout the Township
  • The Committee will also hold a minimum of four (4) public engagement sessions per year as part of their role to capture the interests and needs of the community.

Number of vacancies: 8 

Community Programming & Events Committee

Purpose: This committee will be engaging with the wider community through multiple mediums to ensure that we are meeting programming and event needs.

This committee will:

  • Support current community programs/events and develop new initiatives
  • Support facility usage/bookings
  • Act as a resource for Township supported events
  • Provide guidance for community run events
  • Volunteer appreciation along with retention and recruitment
  • Support the Community Grant Program
  • Provide input into annual recreation operating and capital budgets
  • Assist with gathering content for Community Services & Activity Guide
  • Support and guide residents through the process of successfully presenting ideas and needs to the township and Council
  • Provide recommendations to Council

Meetings:

  • The committee will meet at least four(4) times per year or at the call of the Chair
  • Committee meetings will be held at different locations via rotating schedule throughout the Township
  • The Committee will also hold a minimum of four (4) public engagement sessions per year as part of their role to capture the interests and needs of the community.

Please be sure to clearly indicate the Committee you are most interested in. 

Council will consider appointments at the meeting on Tuesday August 6, 2019 at 7 p.m.   All applicants will be informed of the outcome following Council’s decision.
