Highway 38 Road Closure due to Structure Fire

Highway 38 is closed from Verona Sand Road to Desert Lake Road due to a structure fire in Verona as of 4 pm, June 7, 2023.

Detours are in place with traffic being directed from Sand Road to Hinchinbrooke Road to Desert Lake Road. Only local traffic will be allowed in the village.

South Frontenac Fire and Rescue are on scene of the fire which involves a commercial and residential structure. The fire is under control and no injuries are reported.

Total Fire Ban in Effect June 6, 2023

Effective Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 12:00 pm a total fire ban is in effect across the Township of South Frontenac.

A total fire ban means no open air burning of any kind, including cooking fires, brush fires, camping fires, and fireworks as defined in By-law 2012-68. The ban does not apply to cooking appliances with a mechanical shutoff (such as a propane barbeque).

Military Personnel Training Exercise in Sydenham June 7

National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces have advised that students and instructors from the Peace Support Training Centre in Kingston will be conducting a training exercise on Wednesday June 7 between 8 am and 4 pm in Sydenham, Brockville, Perth and Gananoque.
