April Service Changes

With April comes the first signs of spring, warmer temperatures (hopefully!), and some service changes due to the changing of the season and Easter holiday. Please note the following changes happening this month:

• Overnight street parking restrictions are lifted as of April 1, 2023
• Our Household Hazardous Waste Depot at 2491 Keeley Road returns to summer hours in April. The depot is open every Thursday from 3-8 pm. See the full list of acceptable items accepted at the depot here.

2023 Private Lane Upgrade Assistance Program Now Accepting Applications

The Private Lane Upgrade Assistance Program provides grants for residents who live on private lanes to upgrade their lane to improve access for emergency vehicles. Applications are now being accepted for 2023.

The Township may fund up to 50% of approved projects to a maximum of $7,000. Funds can only be used towards capital lane upgrades, not regular maintenance (see the list of eligible and ineligible items in the application).

The 2023 Recreation and Community Services Guide is now available! Look for your copy in this week’s Frontenac News or view the guide online. The guide lists information on community service groups, sports organizations and leisure activities in the Township.

South Frontenac Council Approves 2023 Budget

South Frontenac Council has approved the 2023 budget of $37.4 million. The budget represents a 2.62 per cent tax increase or $43.91 a year for the average taxpayer for the Township portion*.

“In a year where we are seeing high inflation and cost pressures in every aspect of our operations, we believe we have found the right balance that taxpayers wanted of a reasonable increase to ensure we can maintain services and continue to invest in our community to grow,” says Mayor Ron Vandewal.
