At its regular meeting on January 26, 2021, South Frontenac Council approved its 2021 operating and capital budgets for the Township, adopting a financial plan for the year that maintains or enhances existing services, funds numerous capital projects and advances a number of priorities from Council’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan – all while delivering an average tax payer increase of 1.5%.

Earlier this week the Province of Ontario announced that effective January 14, 2021 at 12:01 am, the entire province will be placed under a Stay-at-Home Order in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA), which requires everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy; accessing health-care services; exercising; or doing essential work.

Effective January 1st, 2021, the Township of South Frontenac will begin delivery of Part 8 On-site Sewage System Services on behalf of the other three (3) Frontenac Townships (North Frontenac, Central Frontenac, and Frontenac Islands). This change comes as Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington Public Health (KFL&A Public Health) ceased providing Part 8 services to area municipalities at the end of 2020.

Fire at McMullen Manor in Verona

On Thursday January 7th at approximately 10:00 pm, South Frontenac Fire & Rescue (SFFR) and other emergency services were dispatched to a major structure fire at the McMullen Manor apartment building off Carleton Drive in Verona.
