Picture of construction worker and information on Battersea road

Construction will begin on a 5 km section of Battersea Road between Burnt Hills Road and Bradden Road in late November. This project will include a component of winter work on roadsides with more major road improvements in early spring.

  • Work will begin in late November 2022 and will take 7-8 months with completion in late July 2023
  • Ditching and rock removal work will happen over the winter months, with a break in construction before road resurfacing begins in the spring
  • Work will typically be done between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday (if weekend work is required, we'll notify area residents)
  • The road will be accessible at all times with one lane open. Expect traffic delays.

The existing roadway will be pulverized, re-graded and built up with improved granular base. Roadway cross-culverts will be removed and replaced and private entrance culverts will also be replaced. Ditching improvements will be carried out for improved roadside drainage. The roadway will be finished with wider lanes topped with a new double surface treatment (tar and chip) with new hard-surfaced shoulders to support active transportation and to reduce shoulder maintenance costs.

The Battersea Road project is categorized as a Schedule “A” project under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and is considered a pre-approved construction project under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Construction activities will be led by Len Corcoran Excavating Ltd.
