For Immediate Release

Following the partial closure of Hinchinbrooke Rd back in July, South Frontenac staff have been working in conjunction with a geotechnical engineer to safely reopen the road before winter. While addition culvert work will take place in the spring, Hinchinbrooke Rd will reopen to two-way traffic effective October 29, 2021 at Noon.

“I have been advising residents that Hinchinbrooke Rd would have partial access restored by the end of October - so the fact that there will be two-way traffic flow feels like an unexpected bonus,” said Mayor Ron Vandewal. “I want to pass on Council’s appreciation to the Public Services department and everyone who worked tirelessly the past few months to make this reopening a reality.”

Following recommendations from a geotechnical engineering review, Township staff carried out grading adjustments within the work zone and added safety features in preparation for the reopening of Hinchinbrooke Road. Additional temporary traffic control signage have been put in place to help communicate lane restrictions and safety parameters to those using the road.

Residents are reminded to obey traffic controls when using the temporary narrowed lanes on Hinchinbrooke Road at Spring Lake this winter season. Additional questions or concerns can be directed to Troy Dunlop, Manager of Technical Services and Infrastructure at 613-376-3027 ext.3333 or via email to pwsupport@southfrontenac.net.
