We're looking for residents to serve on three committees: the Recreation and Leisure Services Advisory Committee, Heritage Advisory Committee, and Lake Ecosystem Advisory Committee. The deadline for applications has been extended to February 2, 2023 at noon.

Recreation and Leisure Services Advisory Committee

  • Looking for: 9 members of the public
  • Committee meets: the fourth Thursday of the following months: February, May, August and November at 6:00 pm.
  • Description: The Committee advises Council on how to implement the Recreation, Parks, and Leisure Master Plan and provides input into the annual recreation capital and operating budget, prioritizing recommendations based on actual usage, community needs, and budget requirements. The Committee also helps with Township events and programs and supports community recreation education initiatives, including the annual Recreation & Community Services Guide, the Community Recreation and Leisure Services Fair, and the Annual Volunteer Appreciation program.

Heritage Advisory Committee

  • Looking for: 8 members of the public
  • Committee meets: fourth Thursday of the following months: January, April, July and October at 1:00 pm.
  • Description: The Committee advises and assists Council on identifying and registering properties, districts and features that have architectural or cultural heritage value or interest. The Committee reviews heritage applications, explores funding opportunities, and helps with research, education and promotion of heritage properties, programs and events.

Lake Ecosystem Advisory Committee

  • Looking for: Six representatives endorsed by their lake association and two members of the public at large
  • Committee meets: fourth Thursday of the following months: March, June, September and December at 6:00 pm.
  • Description: The Committee's mandate includes hosting an annual Lake Associations Forum where Lake Associations and residents can network with one another other, share best practices, voice common concerns, and discuss emerging trends. The Committee also provides feedback on Township policy, strategic plans and budgets, reviews Lake Ecosystem Grant Applications, and coordinates and collects feedback from lake associations throughout the year.
