Please be advised that effective today, July 9, 2021 at 8:00 am, the level one fire ban has been lifted for the Township of South Frontenac.
This means that residents can return to having approved incinerator or brush pile fires that are in compliance with the regulations set in the Township’s burning By-law 2012-68, in addition to the previously permitted open air cooking and camping fires.
Following the frequent rainfall experienced over the past week in South Frontenac, current conditions present less of a risk to those wishing to burn. With the lifting of the fire ban, residents are reminded to reference the Open Air Burning By-law 2012-68, burn only when conditions are appropriate, and always ensure there are adequate provisions in place to stop the spread of fire if it becomes out of control.
“I would like to thank the residents of South Frontenac for complying with the ‘Total Fire Ban’ and ‘Level One Fire Ban’ that were previously in place,” said Fire Chief Darcy Knott, Director of Fire and Emergency Services. “Your cooperation and commitment to the community keep our residents, properties, and SFFR firefighters safe,” explained Chief Knott.
