2022-2026 Frontenac County Council

The 2022-2023 Frontenac County Warden and Deputy Warden were elected and sworn in, and members of the 2022-2026 Frontenac County Council were sworn in at a special inaugural council meeting at Frontenac County Courthouse in Kingston on November 30.

Township of South Frontenac Mayor Ron Vandewal was elected Warden. Township of Central Frontenac Mayor Frances Smith was elected Deputy Warden. Councillors Judith Anne Greenwood-Speers and Bill Saunders were sworn in representing the Township of Frontenac Islands. Councillor Ray Leonard was sworn in representing the Township of South Frontenac. Councillors Gerry Lichty and Fred Fowler were sworn in representing the Township of North Frontenac. Councillor Nicki Gowdy was sworn in representing the Township of Central Frontenac.

“I want to welcome and congratulate all the new councillors,” said Warden Vandewal. “We have six new councillors out of eight, so there will be lots to learn and lots to get used to. I always look forward optimistically that we will work hard together to do what’s best for our municipalities and the County. I look forward to working with the City of Kingston and all the other levels of government.”

The meeting and subsequent reception was held at Frontenac County Courthouse in Kingston. The building, opened in 1858, was the historic seat of Frontenac County Council from its inception in 1864 until amalgamation in 1997. The site was chosen for the November 30 special inaugural council meeting while renovations to the Frontenac County joint administrative facility in Glenburnie continue.
