Service Delivery Updates Following Provincial Emergency Brake

On April 3, 2021 at 12:01 am, a Province-wide “emergency brake” shutdown was put into effect for a minimum of four weeks. This emergency brake comes as COVID-19 cases continue to rise at an alarming rate across Ontario. For more details on safety measures and affected businesses during this month-long shutdown, please see O. Reg. 82/20.

During this shutdown, all Township offices will remain open to the public, however, residents are strongly encouraged to make inquiries via email and phone as much as possible and to limit in-person business to payments and/or document pickup or delivery ONLY. For the duration of the shutdown, any appointments or consultations with Township personnel will occur via telephone or Zoom video call, or be rescheduled for a later date following the lifting of restrictions.

General Service Delivery Updates

  • Due to the limitations on activities permitted to occur at community facilities, the Township’s community centres and halls will be closed for the duration of the lockdown. Any residents with bookings during this period will be contacted by staff to cancel/reschedule your reservation. Questions about bookings can be directed to 613-376-3027 ext. 4331, or via email to bookings@southfrontenac.net.
  • Municipal parks and outdoor recreational facilities will remain open, but all users must adhere to Public Health measures, including physical distancing of at least 2 meters, and no groups of more than 5 people. Team sports are not permitted during this time, and net court sports will only be available for singles play. For more information on the use of outdoor recreational amenities, please contact Tim Laprade, Recreation Supervisor, at 613-376-3027 ext. 2231 or via email at tlaprade@southfrontenac.net.
  • With the Interim Tax installment due April 30, 2021, residents are reminded that payments can be made electronically through online banking or at their financial institution, online via credit card or through Virtual Municipal Office, through the mail via cheque, dropped off at our office using the drop box, or in person at 4432 George St. in Sydenham using cheque, debit, or cash.
  • There will be no change to Building Services as the new emergency brake does not restrict any type of construction at this time. Residents are encouraged to contact Building Services via telephone at 613-376-3027 ext. 2226, via email at building@southfrontenac.net, or utilize our drop box located at 4432 George St., in Sydenham for correspondence, permits or other building-related matters during the Provincial shutdown.
  • Other than regularly scheduled closures due to holidays, Township waste sites will remain open during the shutdown. For more information on waste site hours, please visit https://www.southfrontenac.net/landfills/

Please note that while our offices will remain open, there will be a limited number of staff onsite in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID19. Your patience and cooperation during this time is greatly appreciated.

Additionally, under the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, all Ontarians are asked to:

  • Stay home as much as possible,
  • Limit close contact to your household (the people you live with). If you live alone, you can consider having close contact with one other household.
  • Stay home if you have symptoms, even if they are mild and to get tested early.
  • Stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with, and wear a mask or face covering in indoor public spaces or any time physical distancing is not possible.
  • Limit trips outside your home to necessities such as:
    • Getting food or medication,
    • Going to medical appointments,
    • Supporting vulnerable community members
    • Child care, and
    • Enjoying exercise or walking pets.
