As South Frontenac prepares for the 2022 budget year ahead, Council is looking for input from residents to help inform the decision making process as a first step in the budget’s development. With this in mind, the Township is asking residents to participate in a pre-budget survey through its new public consultation platform, EngageFrontenac.ca.

“South Frontenac has been in a healthy financial position over the last two decades, but as our population and demand for services increase, Council also wants to make sure we are allocating our financial resources to services that provide the most value to our community,” explained Mayor Ron Vandewal. “After spending so much time at home this past year and a half, exploring our own backyards, residents seem to have a stronger desire to take part in municipal activities and be a part of the process to impact change,” said Vandewal.

South Frontenac's goal with the budget each year is to provide a balance of services that improve the quality of life for our residents and build vibrant communities, while also ensuring we have the financial and organizational capacity to deliver those services into the future and in an often changing environment.

“As our region starts to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, we want to hear from you, the residents of South Frontenac, on how the municipality can contribute to the creation of vibrant, thriving communities,” explained Mayor Vandewal. “It’s an exciting time to live in South Frontenac, and we as your elected officials want to make sure you have a say in what the 2022 budget looks like.”

Council will receive all citizen feedback in advance of their review of the proposed 2022 budget. Further input opportunities will be available throughout the budget process later this year, including opportunities for delegations to Council. Residents can follow along with the process by visiting the Engage South Frontenac portal, and tuning in to South Frontenac Council meeting virtually.
