COMPETITION #21-13-PS - Construction & Technical Services Supervisor

The Construction & Technical Services Supervisor is a newly created position that will play a central role in various municipal engineering and asset management activities including providing guidance and support for in-house capital works as well as the review and inspection of development projects.

Under the guidance of the Manager of Technical Services & Infrastructure, the Construction & Technical Services Supervisor will be responsible for conducting field inspections, reviewing site plans and subdivisions as required; ensuring site compliance, inspecting municipal services and grading, reviewing letters of credit, preparing designs for Township construction and providing guidance and monitoring for in-house construction, liaising with vendors and contractors, preparing tender packages, reviewing submissions, responding to homeowner enquiries regarding development and capital construction projects, coordinating condition assessments and priority setting, maintaining asset inventories, updating asset lifecycle transactions and supporting long-range capital planning and budgeting activities.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years related experience, preferably in a Municipal setting
  • Thorough understanding of the Ontario Provincial Standards Specifications (OPSS), and Standard Drawings (OPSD)
  • Experience with and understanding of municipal infrastructure design, drafting, plans, review, infrastructure inspections, and contract administration of municipal and development infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify concerns, troubleshoot, problem solve, and exercise sound judgement.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to interpret and clearly relay information from technical documents and contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, elected officials, ratepayers, contractors, consultants and business owners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering software including CAD, GIS software, digital communication tools and other related databases.

The salary range for this position is $67,121.60 - $78,353.60. The Township offers a comprehensive benefits package including enrollment in the excellent OMERS pension plan, potential for flexible scheduling, and a progressive and supportive professional development policy.

JOB TITLE: Rink Attendant/Facilities & Solid Waste Operator

DEPARTMENT: Public Services

SUMMARY:

During the winter months, under the direction of the Recreation/Arena Supervisor, the Rink Attendant maintains the ice surface, cleans arena facilities, and operates and monitors all related ice making equipment for the Frontenac Community Arena. The Rink Attendant serves as the responsible operator of the Arena in the absence of the Arena Supervisor.

During the summer months, as a member of the Public Services Department, the Facilities & Solid Waste (FSW) Operator is responsible for the daily operations of parks & Township facilities, undertaking a variety of facilities maintenance and repairs. The FSW Operator performs other functions and duties related to Public Services as directed by the Facilities & Solid Waste Supervisor or Lead Hand.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of secondary education
  • One (1) to two (2) years of related experience in ice making/resurfacing and arena facilities maintenance.
  • Must possess (or obtain after hire) ORFA Basic Refrigeration Certification.
  • Must possess (or obtain after hire) and maintain a valid Class “D” Province of Ontario Driver’s license with “Z” endorsement.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of meeting demands of the role
  • Experience operating equipment such as ice resurfaces, tractors, or other related equipment of similar size and complexity.
  • Must have basic related experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, boilers, refrigeration and HVAC in professional/commercial setting.
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks and assignments.
  • Minimum valid Class G driver’s license.
  • Proven ability to work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Ensure that all safety rules and procedures are being observed at all times, including the initiation of proper notifications in the event of accidents or injury
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player with an ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

  • $24.02-$25.02 per hour
  • Benefits in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 4436
