Garbage

Garbage is collected on the same day each week. Here are some tips to make sure your garbage is picked up each week:

• See our Collection Map and List of Roads to find out which day your garbage will be picked up.
• See this list of private lanes to see the pick up location for lanes.
• Have your garbage out by 7 am on your collection day.
• Garbage bags can’t weigh more than 45 pounds or be oversized (standard size is 30” x 38”).
• Tag it! Make sure each garbage bag has a purple South Frontenac bag tag. Wrap it around the neck of the bag and attach the ends together.
• There are no limits to the number of bags put out by a household.
• If your garbage wasn’t picked up, crews may leave a "reason for leaving" sticker on the bag.
• There is no bag limit as long as bags are tagged.

Bag tags

Bag tags help reduce waste by encouraging residents to recycle and compost more. Make sure your South Frontenac purple bag tag is attached properly– wrap one full tag around the neck of the bag and stick the ends together.

We mail residents a year supply of bag tags in March with your annual tax bill. If you have not received your tax bill and tags by the end of March, please contact the Tax Department at taxes@southfrontenac.net. You can buy extra bag tags for $2 each at these locations:

• Fisherman's Hardware and Auto Shop - 139 Main Street, Seeleys Bay

Note: All new builds must have a completed occupancy permit to be eligible for tags. Landlords are required to supply their tenants with tags for their rental units. If a property is being sold or purchased, the tags should remain with the property as they are a part of the property taxes.

Private lanes

For residents on private lanes, garbage must be left at the end of the lane on collection day by 7 am where it intersects with a Township maintained road. Our collectors do not pick up down private lanes.

We encourage residents on private lanes to use communal bins for garbage and recycling.

Wildlife and waste

Wildlife and waste don't mix! To avoid attracting animals:

• Use a secured container
• Store all garbage and recyclables inside the garage, shed or in a secure enclosure until the morning it's collected
• Rinse your containers with a mild soap or vinegar and water solution to reduce odours

Garbage collectors won't pick up ripped or strewn garbage.
