Voter Information Letters
Voter information letters have started to arrive! If you have not received your letter in the mail by the end of day on Wednesday, October 14th, OR if you need to make corrections to your information, please come to the Township office at 4432 George Street during our opening hours with a piece of identification that shows your qualifying address. Election staff will be happy to help you. More information can be found at our website on the elections page.
The 2026 municipal election will take place on Monday, October 26 from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm. Eligible electors can vote online or by telephone anytime during the voting period. The Township will host a Voter Help Centre equipped with touchscreen voting systems in the Council Chamber at 4432 George Street between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm throughout the advanced voting period (October 19-23) and between 8:30 am and 8:00 pm on Election Day (October 26). South Frontenac Township is inviting local volunteers to come together and be celebrated at Council’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on November 21 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Verona Lions Club.
All South Frontenac office locations will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 as we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Moreland Dixon Road will be closed to all traffic at Collins Lake (approximately 1.5 km East of Perth Road) starting Monday, September 28 at 7:00 am until Friday, October 2 at 7:00 pm.
On September 15, 2026, Township Council hosted Public Information Meeting # 3 for the Verona Housing Water and Wastewater Environmental Assessments (EA). During the meeting J. L. Richards & Associates Ltd. and Cambium Inc. presented updates on the various natural environment, archaeological, water and wastewater field investigations that have been carried out for the EA’s that are presently underway.
Mayor Ron Vandewal recently met with Alto representatives as well as County Warden Bill Saunders and County representatives.
Parks Canada advises the public that the Lower Brewers Swing Bridge (Washburn Road - County Road 12) will be swung open for maintenance work on Friday, September 4, from approximately 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, Wagar & Corput Weed Control Inc., and the Invasive Phragmites Control Centre intend to control invasive Phragmites (Phragmites australis ssp. australis) in South Frontenac Township.

As we move into September, we will adjust the hours of operation for the bathrooms located at The Point in Sydenham and Gilmour Point Beach in Battersea. This change will take effect on Labour Day (September 7, 2026) until the end of September.
South Frontenac staff have identified a potential algae bloom at Gilmour Point Beach on Dog Lake in Battersea. While waiting for confirmation from the Kingston District Office of the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, the Township has closed the beach, located at 1763 Wellington St. Battersea, to the public.
