ALTO Consultation, Proposed Rail Network Through South Frontenac

Over the last week, the Township has received some inquiries in relation to the ALTO high-speed rail network.  Recently ALTO published a map which provides for proposed corridors for the rail network, one of which would travel through South Frontenac.

ALTO currently has a consultation period available and is inviting the public to participate through their online consultation.  Their consultation platform provides the opportunity for feedback as well as an opportunity to view an interactive  Corridor Map where feedback can be provided about potential alignment locations, areas of concerns, locations where an alignment may not be appropriate.  ALTO encourages the public to share comments or perspective as all feedback will help inform the next stages of their project development.

Township Council received a delegation from ALTO at their December 2, 2025 meeting and remain committed to being a stakeholder throughout this process. This is not a South Frontenac Township project or initiative. ALTO is a Federal government project. 

Currently the Township has no further information than what has been provided to the public.  As more information becomes available, the Township will make every effort to share this with the public.
