Township Staff Welcomes Community Members to Grand Opening of Renovated Town Hall

South Frontenac Township will open the doors to their newly renovated Town Hall for its Grand Opening on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Community members are invited to participate in staff led tours of the fresh new space and to watch as Council partakes in a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Light refreshments will be available.

“We are very proud of our newly renovated office space, and we would like to take the time to share the experience with the community”, says Louise Fragnito, Township CAO. “Several offices in the old Town Hall were too small for employees to share. The Township has grown and continues to grow. The bigger space was much needed.”

The Town Hall renovation project started in 2021 with a location and expansion feasibility study. It was determined that an estimated additional 4,000 sq. ft to our existing facility would best serve the Township’s needs. In 2023, Council approved the design of the expansion at our existing location on George Street in Sydenham; our home as South Frontenac since 1998 and hundreds of years under Loughborough Township. In early 2024, Council approved a construction budget of 3.5 million dollars. Township staff moved out in August of 2024 and were able to move back into the renovated building at the beginning of October 2025. The cost of the 14-month renovation totalled 3.8 million dollars.

“Town Hall is such a vital resource for our residents,” says Mayor Vandewal. “It is the centre of commerce in South Frontenac. As Township staff help to build, maintain and strengthen South Frontenac, Town Hall should be structured in the best possible way to foster a great work atmosphere for years to come.”

Community members are invited indoors to tour the halls and chat with staff starting at 5:30 pm. The ribbon cutting and picture opportunity will take place at the front doors at 5:30 pm.

Features of the New Town Hall:

  • The new building is a total of 13,240 total sq. ft. The new building increased the footprint by approximately 4,480 sq ft.
  • An accessible lift is available through the front door and can take residents to both Council chambers and the Building and Planning Department.
  • There are four meeting rooms, two per floor. One room is allocated for Building and Planning meetings with residents.
  • There are six individual washrooms; two are accessible.
  • The office features many green initiatives:
    • New energy efficient heating/cooling systems used in conjunction with existing systems.
    • To conserve energy, each room is equipped with lights with vacancy sensors that turn off when there's no movement.
    • New LED light fixtures to reduce hydro costs.
    • Low flow toilets to reduce water consumption.
    • Blinds installed on exterior windows will save on air conditioning costs during summer months.
