Job Description:
The Student Program and Events Assistant will assist in the planning, coordination and staffing of summer community programs and events such as Touch the Truck, the Summer Community Event series, the Summer Kickoff Music Festival, Canada Day, and the Lakes and Trails Festival.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the coordination and execution of various community events.
- Assists with event promotion, including development of marketing materials.
- Provides administrative assistance and coordination of logistical support for the events.
- Attends organizing committee meetings when required.
- Assists with set-up, on-site activities, and clean-up for events.
- Assists in the coordination of RSVPs and guest lists, as required.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with volunteers.
- Responds to inquiries from the public about events.
- Assists in inventory management by effectively monitoring, recording, and controlling inventory.
- Deals with any challenges to the best of their ability and directs more challenging problems to the Recreation and Events Coordinator or the Manager of Recreation and Facilities.
- Complies with The Township of South Frontenac policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Completes additional duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have been attending school in 2026.
- Must have a valid G Class Drivers License and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
- Strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and databases) and skills.
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Leadership, supervision, and public relations skills.
- Communication skills.
- Decision-making skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of event planning is an asset.
- Current Criminal Record Check is required.
Work Environment:
- This role is split between being office based and outdoor work, with the need to attend site visits, as well as community events and programs on a regular basis.
- Awareness of proper safety protocols and precautions for inclement weather are required.
- Light to moderate physical duties may be performed.
- Incumbent must be comfortable interacting with members of the public daily.
Other:
- This is a seasonal non-union position based on a 40-hour work week however flexibility is required to meet the needs of events on weekends and evenings.
- Compensation is in accordance with the Salary Schedule adopted by Council and amended from time to time.
The wage rate for this position is $21.56 per hour.
