Job Description: 

The Student Program and Events Assistant will assist in the planning, coordination and staffing of summer community programs and events such as Touch the Truck, the Summer Community Event series, the Summer Kickoff Music Festival, Canada Day, and the Lakes and Trails Festival.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the coordination and execution of various community events.
  • Assists with event promotion, including development of marketing materials.

Job Description: As a Student Swim Instructor, you are responsible for planning and teaching group or individual swim lessons for children enroled in the Township of South Frontenac Swim Program. Instructors also provide supervision and programming for the day camp.

Job Description: The Student Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for the day-to-day interactions with children attending the day camp. This includes facilitating group or individual activities with various age levels of children. This will involve a high level of creativity and ability to engage with children and ensuring their safety. The incumbent will also act in a support capacity to the Swim Instructors, Lifeguards, Assistant Site Coordinator, and Site Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and facilitates day camp activities.

The Township operates summer Day Camps at three locations across South Frontenac:

  • The Point Park – 4410 Point Road, Sydenham
  • Gilmour’s Point Beach – 1763 Wellington Street, Battersea
  • McMullen Beach – 6089 Carleton Drive, Verona

Day camp students may be assigned to any site depending on operational needs. 

Yes. Bus transportation is available from The Point Park (Sydenham) to the Battersea and Verona camp locations for students without access to transportation to those sites. Details will be provided to successful applicants. 

All applicants, new and returning, are assessed based on qualifications, education, relevant experience, skills, training, ability to perform the work, and overall suitability for the role. While previous Township experience may be considered an asset, new applicants are fully considered each year. 

Yes. Requirements vary by role. Examples include:

Yes. A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is required for all successful applicants, and the process will be administered and paid for by the Township. Students aged 18 and older who are hired into Day Camp roles must also complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), which is paid for by the applicant. No. Students are not required to live in South Frontenac. However, reliable transportation to assigned work locations is required. 

Most student positions work Monday - Friday, although some roles may require occasional evening or weekend shifts. Exact schedules will be provided to successful applicants. 

We understand students may have occasional personal commitments or planned time away. Pre-approved time off may be accommodated depending on the position and operational needs. Applicants are encouraged to communicate any required time off early in the hiring process. 

Yes. All summer student employees are eligible to enroll in the OMERS pension plan. Participation is optional, and details are provided during onboarding.
