    Purpose and Effect of the Application

    To permit the construction of a one-storey, 110-square-metre (1,200 sq.ft.) detached accessory building (garage/workshop), the owner is seeking the following variances to Zoning By-law, 2003-75, as amended:

  • High-Speed Rail Route Change Considered to Include Stop in Kingston

    During a special announcement today, the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, joined by Alto President and CEO Martin Imbleau, informed the public that Alto would develop a southern route option that includes a potential stop in Kingston, subject to technical feasibility and the requirements of the project.

    Purpose and Effect of the Application

  • Brass Point Bridge to Close June 25, 2026

    Parks Canada will begin the full replacement of Brass Point Bridge in Seeley’s Bay on June 25, 2026, with reopening expected in December 2027. This project will replace both the historic swing and fixed bridges, upgrade roadway infrastructure, and ensure the long-term safety and functionality of this key crossing on the Rideau Canal National Historic Site.

    Purpose and Effect of the Proposed By-law

    A new lot is proposed that would be developed into an 18-hole, ‘Pitch & Putt’ format golf course. The proposed lot would be 2.9 hectares (7.25 acres) in area with 118 metres of frontage on Yarker Road. The retained lot, containing the existing house, would be 0.4 hectares (1 acre) in area with 45 metres (150 ft.) of frontage on Yarker Road, and would continue to be used as a rural residential property. 

    The proposed By-law would: (1) rezone the proposed lot from Rural Zone (RU) to a site-specific Special Rural Zone (RU-X) to permit a golf course use, and (2) rezone the retained lot from Rural Zone (RU) to a site-specific Special Rural Zone (RU-X) to allow the retained lot to have a minimum lot area of less than 0.8 hectares (2 acres) and a minimum frontage of less than 76 metres (250 ft.).
