Update on Fish Creek Bridge: January 7, 2026

Construction of the Fish Creek Bridge continues to progress toward completion and crews have been working on average six days per week since late October. The last several weeks, however, have been unforgiving with progress due to the freezing rain and heavy snowfalls.

Work completed – Weeks of December 22 and December 29

  • Reconstruction of the streambed beneath the new bridge structure to match the original stream bottom
  • Removal of the lower level of structural steel beams within the de-watering enclosure
  • Backfilling of drainage enclosure up to the level of the middle level steel beam supports

Work forecasted – Weeks of January 5 and January 12

  • Removal of the middle level of steel beams within the de-watering enclosure
  • Backfilling the de-watering enclosure with granular materials up to final grade
  • Removal of sheet piling systems and reopening the creek in its original path of flow

Work forecasted – Weeks of January 19 and January 26

  • Removal of the temporary water bypass on the north end of the structure
  • Installation of new steel beam guiderail systems on the bridge and north/south approaches
  • Placement of granular surface and road safety signage
  • Opening of the roadway to two-way traffic on January 30

Road closure updates, where necessary, continue to be issued through the Municipal 511 system to all emergency service and school transportation providers.
