You will find over 75 named lakes in the Township, making the region an anglers dream. Many species of fish are found in our lakes. Large and small mouth bass, pike, lake trout, splake and an array of pan fish are all available during various times of the year. 

Enjoy world class fishing from land-locked lakes, or access the world from the Rideau Canal, all right here in South Frontenac!

Fishing Regulations

Fishing and hunting regulations and guidelines can be found on the Ministry of Natural Resources website. The Ministry hosts Fish ON-Line, a useful tool that provides detailed information on each waterbody in Ontario by Fisheries Management Zone, Frontenac County is Zone 18.

In Ontario, an Outdoors Card and a Fishing Licence is required. Licences are available at several retail locations in the Township.

Twice a year Canadian residents can fish in Ontario without buying a fishing licence, during:

  • Family Fishing Weekend in February
  • Family Fishing Week in July

Consider downloading the new What3Words application to your smart phone. What3Words divided the world into three meter squares and gave each square a unique combination of three words. In case of an emergency, you can tell the 911 operator the three words that is shown on the app. for an exact location. This is especially useful in case of an emergency in rural and remote areas often travelled to for fishing.
