  • Fish Creek Bridge Update - January 23, 2026

    The Fish Creek Bridge construction is near complete, and the road is scheduled to be re-opened with a temporary gravel surface at the end of the day at dusk on Friday, January 30. The causeway and the bridge deck will be paved in late spring when asphalt plants re-open.

    Purpose and Effect of the Proposed By-law
    The Township owns two properties on Verona Street. They propose to construct four stacked townhouse buildings (total 48 units) on the east side of the road, and two apartment buildings(total 44 units) on the west side of the road. All the buildings would have two storeys. The buildings would be connected to a proposed municipal water system and wastewater system.
    The purpose of the proposed by-law is to change the zones on the properties from Rural (RU) and Urban Residential - First Density (UR1) to Urban Multiple Residential (UMR). The UMR zones would be site-specific to address building type, lot area, building setbacks, and minimum parking requirements. The zones would also have a holding symbol that would only be removed to allow this development once all studies are completed.

    The applications seek to create two new rural residential lots. Proposed severance 1 (PL-BDJ-2025-0126) and proposed severance 2 (PL-BDJ-2025-0127) would each be 2 Acres in area with 76 metres of frontage on Beach Nut Road. The retained parcel would be 12.8 Acres in area with frontage on Beach Nut Road and Bear Creek Road and would contain an existing dwelling.
