At the May 21, 2024, Council meeting, Safe Roads Engineering presented its findings on the preliminary design for a 5.8 km section of Road 38 between Murton Road and Kingston Road. Pavement condition ratings on the highway are among the poorest ratings in the arterial network and the corridor serves over 8,100 vehicles daily. The design study presentation is now posted on the Road 38 project page on engagefrontenac.
June kicks off a month-long of community and cultural celebrations in South Frontenac, starting with Pride Month, Parks and Recreation Month activities, National Indigenous Peoples Day and culminating with Canada Day celebrations on July 1.
We are pleased to open a second intake for applications for our Community Grant Program for 2024. The application deadline for this intake is July 31, 2024.
**DATE CHANGE** The Council of The Corporation of the Township of South Frontenac will hold a public meeting, pursuant to section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997, as amended, to present and obtain public input on the municipality’s proposed development charges (D.C.) by-law and underlying background study.
The Council of The Corporation of the Township of South Frontenac will hold a public meeting to consider a Zoning By-law Amendment in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act.
We recently completed a background study on development charges which is now posted on our website for viewing and comment. Development charges are how municipalities help cover costs from roads to fire stations to libraries.
We are now accepting applications for our 2024 Lake Ecosystem Grant Program. The deadline for applications is August 9, 2024.
Rehabilitation work is beginning on Sydenham Lake bridge and dam in the village of Sydenham near Foodland and Home Hardware.
Due to thunderstorms in the forecast, we are moving our Touch the Truck event to tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the Point Park in Sydenham.
South Frontenac Township will be using birds of prey and herding dogs at Sydenham Point Park this spring to keep geese away and keep the park and beach clean and safe so it can remain open this summer. The birds of prey are from Royal Canadian Falconry in Haliburton
