Washroom Closure - Gilmours Point Beach
The washrooms are closed at Gilmour Point Beach due to the power outage. Portable washrooms are in place.
Please note: During the week of June 29 - July 3, garbage collection will be one-day later for residents who would normally have pick-up on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday pick-up will shift to Thursday, and Thursday’s pick-up will move to Friday. All municipal offices and the Portland Waste Disposal Site will also be closed on Wednesday, July 1. Recycling will still be collected by Emterra on Wednesday, July 1.

Purpose and Effect of the Application

During a special announcement today, the Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, joined by Alto President and CEO Martin Imbleau, informed the public that Alto would develop a southern route option that includes a potential stop in Kingston, subject to technical feasibility and the requirements of the project.

Purpose and Effect of the Application
To request permission under Section 45(2) of the Planning Act to enlarge an existing, legal non-conforming dwelling within 30 metres (98.4 ft.) of the highwater mark of Loughborough Lake. The applicant is proposing to construct an attached, two-storey garage and enclosed breezeway connected to an existing two-storey dwelling, resulting in a lot coverage (approximately 5.3%) exceeding the maximum 5% lot coverage for a principal building permitted under the Limited Service Residential – Waterfront (RLSW) Zone.
Parks Canada will begin the full replacement of Brass Point Bridge in Seeley’s Bay on June 25, 2026, with reopening expected in December 2027. This project will replace both the historic swing and fixed bridges, upgrade roadway infrastructure, and ensure the long-term safety and functionality of this key crossing on the Rideau Canal National Historic Site.
