  • Message from South Frontenac Fire & Rescue – Shortages on Propane

    Over the last two weeks, SFFR has been involved with 9 incidents due to empty propane tanks. When your tank is low/empty during the cold, it has low pressure and the furnace will not operate properly.

    The property has a house that is setback 8.5 metres from Bobs Lake at its closest point. The owners propose to demolish the house and to construct a new one in its place. There would be a 144 square foot covered deck on the south side of the building and a 558 square foot deck on the north side.

    Application PL-BDJ-2026-0011 is proposing to create 1 new lot that is approximately 5.5 acres in size along Henderson Road with a 236m frontage that includes the existing dwelling and accessory buildings.     Purpose and Effect of the Proposed By-law
    The by-law would place a holding symbol on the Rural zone on the retained lands from consent applications PL-BDJ-2024-0078 to PL-BDJ-2024-0080. The holding symbol would require a satisfactory hydrogeological study before a building permit could be issued for any form of housing. This is necessary because the owner was unable to find sufficient water on the lot for a residential use.

    Property Location: Between Bittersweet Drive and Petworth Road (refer to key map)

    Purpose and Effect of the Applications
    The owner is proposing to extend Bittersweet Drive to Petworth Road, and to develop a 34 lot residential subdivision. The subdivision would also have two park blocks and one stormwater management block.
    The proposed official plan amendment would change the designation on the subject lands from Prime Agricultural Area and Environmental Protection to Settlement Area. This would expand the Hartington Settlement Area boundary to include the site.
    The subject lands are zoned RU-46. The proposed zoning by-law amendment would place the proposed residential lots in a Residential (R) zone that would allow a minimum 45 metre frontage. The amendment would also place the proposed park and stormwater management blocks in a Public Open Space (OS) zone.

    The application for draft plan of subdivision would enable the lot and block creation, and the
    road extension. This application has been submitted to, and will be processed by, the County of
    Frontenac, as they are the approval authority for plans of subdivision.
