For Immediate Release

Please be advised that effective Friday, June 19, 2020 at 4:00 pm there is a Level One fire ban in effect across the Township of South Frontenac.

A Level One burning ban restricts open air burning, including fireworks, but permits campfires and cooking fires as defined in the By-law 2012-68.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has recently updated the Fire Danger Rating within the Township to be ‘High’ in some areas and ‘Extreme’ in others. An extreme rating on the index means that forest fires ignited under current conditions could result in a fire that is fast spreading, has high intensity, and would be very difficult to control and suppress.

Residents are reminded of the importance of complying with the Burning By-law 2012-68 which is available on our website – www.southfrontenac.net.

Residents are also reminded that any infraction of this By-law will result in significant financial penalties. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact South Frontenac Fire and Rescue at 613-376-3027 ext. 2234.

Your cooperation will help protect our citizens and property, and is sincerely appreciated.
