October 16-22 is Waste Reduction Week. Across the country, people are thinking of ways they can reduce their waste. Here are some simple ideas you can do to reduce waste:

• Give old products a new life. Use old containers for storage and donate and shop at one of our community caring stores.
• Pack a waste-free lunch every day this week.
• Compost! You can buy composters at our 2491 Keeley Rd office for $50.
• Stop waste before it's created. Buy goods with less packaging.
• Use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable ones.
• Clean up litter. Why not organize a community clean up day? It doesn’t have to wait until Pitch In Week!

One easy thing you can do is download our South Frontenac Recycles app. The handy Waste Wizard in the app will tell you what items can be recycled, put out with your regular garbage, or need to be taken to a landfill or our Household Hazardous Waste Depot.
