fire with x across it

Effective Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 12:00 pm a total fire ban is in effect across the Township of South Frontenac.

A total fire ban means no open air burning of any kind, including cooking fires, brush fires, camping fires, and fireworks as defined in By-law 2012-68. The ban does not apply to cooking appliances with a mechanical shutoff (such as a propane barbeque).

South Frontenac Fire and Rescue crews were called upon to help respond to the wildfire burning currently in Centennial Lake in Greater Madawaska this week.

The decision to move to a Total Fire Ban was made based on reduced air quality, dry conditions and consideration for the demands on resources.

South Frontenac Fire and Rescue personnel will continue to monitor the situation and notify the public of any status changes.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call 613-376-3027 ext. 2234, or email fireadmin@southfrontenac.net.
