Mom and kids in truck

Due to thunderstorms in the forecast, we are moving our Touch the Truck event to tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the Point Park in Sydenham.

Come out tomorrow when the sun is shining and get up close to big trucks and equipment from South Frontenac Fire and Rescue, Public Services, Frontenac OPP, and Frontenac Paramedics and see displays from local community organizations.

Parking is available at Loughborough Public School and Sydenham High School with a free shuttle bus running from the school parking lots to the event site.

Admission is free, but families are encouraged to bring cash for the BBQ fundraiser with proceeds going to Maltby Centre and a non-perishable food item to help Stuff-the-Truck for the Southern Frontenac Community Services food bank.

The event takes place during Emergency Preparedness Week, May 5-11. This year’s theme is ‘Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.’ Emergency services personnel are encouraging residents to be prepared for emergencies, like sharing emergency contact information, building an emergency kit or grab and go bag, and knowing what to do when there are severe storms, weather, or wildfires.

The event will be a silent event with no horns or honking to make it accessible and enjoyable for all. For more information, email recsupport@southfrontenac.net.
