Public Services crews standing in front of a pick-up full of garbage

Pitch-In Week is returning to South Frontenac April 15-25, 2024. Pitch-In is a community-wide clean up where residents and community groups get together to help clean up roadsides and greenspaces to keep South Frontenac beautiful. It’s easy to pitch in—you can pick up garbage by yourself, with your family or neighbours, or organize a group.

Here is how you can get involved:

  • South Frontenac provides special biodegradable yellow pitch-in bags free of charge to residents. No garbage tag is required. You can pick up the bags at local retailers who sell our garbage bag tags or from our 2490 Keeley Road or 4432 George Street offices between 8 and 4:30 pm starting Monday April 15.
  • Put out bags with your regular garbage collection the week of April 22. Only the special yellow bags or clear bags provided will be collected without a garbage tag.
  • With the early spring, we know some residents may have bags left from previous years and want to pitch in early. We ask you hold on to any bags collected and put them out the week of April 22 when we have resources to handle the extra volumes.
  • Township staff will be out roadside on April 17 to help with the clean up, so please watch for crews on the side of the road.
  • Have fun and share your experience on social media tagging @SouthFrontenacTownship using #PitchinSF or submit a photo to communications@southfrontenac.net.

Remember to watch for traffic, be road wise, be visible, wear protective gear, especially gloves and appropriate footwear and call the Township at 613-376-3027 x 4330 if you need any help.

Earth Day is Monday, April 22, 2024. The theme for this year is Sustainable Mobility, since 43% of greenhouse gas emissions originate from cars and transportation. This Earth Day, try carpooling, walking or biking if you are running errands or commuting to work.
