Brad Wright

Brad Wright will be joining South Frontenac Township on November 28, 2022 as Director of Development Services.

Mr. Wright has 17 years of experience in land use planning and geoscience consulting, municipal planning, environmental and infrastructure planning, agriculture and business management. He was the Director of Development Services for the Town of Perth and has worked in planning roles for conservation authorities, the City of Ottawa, in addition to running his own sustainable agricultural operation, Bluegrass Farm.

“Brad is a strategic, visionary leader who has been proactive on key issues such as affordable housing, managing legislative changes, climate change, watershed management and sustainable agriculture. His experience in the municipal environment and focus on customer service, collaboration and continuous improvement makes him a great fit for South Frontenac,” says Chief Administrative Officer Louise Fragnito.

One of the significant projects Wright will lead is the Official Plan update. A key strategic document, the Official Plan directs growth and development in the Township and is a guidepost for planning for the growth and needs of the community. A presentation of the draft Official Plan was provided to Council in June 2022 and distributed for third party review. Public consultation and further next steps will take place in early 2023.

“We are very excited to have Brad on board,” says Mayor Ron Vandewal. “His experience in Official Plan reviews, zoning, agricultural land assessments and planning applications will be a great asset as we continue to execute on our strategic priorities including supporting growth that meets the community’s needs.”

As a member of the senior leadership team, Wright will also implement the Township’s strategic plan which places a focus on regional leadership, growth, environmental sustainability, organizational capacity-building, and community vibrancy.

“I’m impressed with the great work already underway at South Frontenac, including the Official Plan review, and keeping up with record building and planning applications,” says Mr. Wright. “I look forward to maintaining the great momentum as we help implement the strategic goals of the Township.”
