Spring Opening of Fields and Diamonds

**SPORTS FIELDS NOW OPEN**

Township sports fields are now open for the season. We’ll continue to monitor conditions and may need to close fields and diamonds if they become saturated. The decision to close Township fields is based on conditions that can potentially make the sport fields unsafe or damaged, such as standing water, muddy areas and frost or frozen ground.

Cataraqui Conservation Issues Flood Watch for Cataraqui Watershed

Cataraqui Conservation has issued a Flood Watch for the Cataraqui Watershed and Gananoque River System, due to the excessive amount of rainfall in recent days, and the increased likelihood of flooding in certain portions of the region.

Weather Situation
Throughout the region, 55 to 77 mm of rain has fallen since April 29. This represents about a month’s worth of rain in only two or three days. There may be some additional rainfall over the next few days before drier conditions arrive.

Notice of Public Meeting – South Frontenac Draft Official Plan

The Council of The Corporation of the Township of South Frontenac will hold a virtual and in-person Statutory Public Meeting to inform the public about the Official Plan Review under the authority of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P13.

Landfill sites to reopen May 1, 2023

Our northern Bradshaw, Salem and Green Bay landfill sites will reopen May 1, 2023 for the summer season. Did you know South Frontenac has five landfill sites? To see the days of the week they are open, hours of operation and list of materials each landfill accepts, see this page on our website.

Our Household Hazardous Waste depot has also returned to summer hours and is open every Thursday from 3-8 pm at 2491 Keeley Road.

New Library Hours Starting in May 2023

The Sydenham, Hartington and Storrington branches of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library have new hours effective May 1, 2023. The Sydenham Library will now be open six days a week. Here are the new hours for the branches in South Frontenac.  For more information on the branch hour changes, see this page on the KFPL website.
